Templates

Listomax offers a choice of templates for your listings. They are available in Options under the Templates tab. New templates are added periodically. (None of our templates are affected by the eBay active content ban of June 2017.)

If you would like to use your own templates, follow the directions below. You will need HTML and general computer skills to do this.

1. Templates live in "C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\Application Data\Listomax\templates" or near equivalent on Windows XP, or C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Listomax on Vista or Windows 7/8. (Note that this is a hidden folder. See how to unhide folders.)
2. They must have a .html extension.
3. We strongly recommend that you copy and rename a template before editing it. If you do not, your changes will be over-written when Listomax is upgraded.
4. Templates should contain an identifying line in the form:
   <!--jtdesc Description for this template -->
   This information is shown on the Options > Templates tab in Listomax.
5. Templates contain place-holders for the actual information in three forms:
1. $(KEY) is replaced by the information.
2. $KEYpreamble$KEYpostamble$KEY is also valid (note no brackets.) If $KEY exists, preamble$KEYpostamble is generated; else, nothing is generated.
3. The construct <JTPICS>...</JTPICS> represents a repeatable fragment of HTML that is used to include all the pictures for the listing.
Place-holders are case-sensitive.
6. Use "Preview" on the Options > Templates tab to test your changes.
